Top phones with 6GB RAM in India

The world of tech can never be constant. It can never be still. It's always moving. It's always in search of some magical permutation and combination to click, to be better. While 6GB RAM in smartphones was hard to imagine at one point of time, the phenomenon is fast becoming the new normal among both the high end as well as the value for money devices.

The Coolpad Cool Play 6, the Huawei Honor 8 Pro, the OnePlus 5, the HTC U11, and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ are classic examples, with plenty more incoming. Take a look.

OnePlus 5
The OnePlus 5 is without a doubt, OnePlus' best-looking phone ever. It comes with the latest in hardware - and up to 8 gigs of RAM and dual cameras.
The dual camera system in the OnePlus 5 features "a tailor-made 16-megapixel camera, supported by a 20-megapixel telephoto camera. While the 16-megapixel camera -- Sony IMX 398 -- features a large f/1.7 aperture, the secondary 20-megapixel camera -- Sony IMX 350 - features an f/2.6 aperture. The dual camera system on-board the OnePlus 5 is capable of shooting photos with shallow depth of field, or bokeh effect through a specialized portrait mode. There's also a dedicated Pro Mode for pro users. The system is also capable of recording 4K videos and shooting in RAW file format. Sadly, the OnePlus 5's rear camera system isn't assisted with Optical Image Stabilisation. On the front, the OnePlus 5 comes with a 16-megapixel camera.
The OnePlus 5's dual camera system may be a hit or a miss but it doesn't take away the fact that the OnePlus 5 is the most powerful phone that you can buy at its price point right now. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based OxygenOS out-of-the-box and is as blazing fast as blazing fast can be right now.
The OnePlus 5 starts at Rs.32,999 for the base 6GB RAM and 64GB storage version and goes all the way to Rs.37,999 for the top-end 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version.
Huawei Honor 8 Pro
The Honor 8 Pro is simply a bigger, more powerful Honor 8 with the same dual camera setup packed inside an all-metal unibody design. The Honor 8 Pro, like the Honor 8, has two cameras on the rear -- dual 12-megapixel Sony IMX286 with dual-LED (dual tone) flash -- wherein one takes monochrome shots and the other takes photos in colour (RGB). The phone's software algorithm then merges both the images into one and creates the final photo. The monochrome images can take in 300 per cent more light and 50 per cent more contrast than coloured photos, according to the makers. So the phone can take better low-light photos than rival top-tier phones thanks to its dual-lens system. The Honor 8 Pro, in addition, also has an 8-megapixel camera on the front.
The dual-camera setup maybe the same, but, the Honor 8 Pro is a complete overhaul in all the other departments. The phone comes with a 5.7-inch Quad-HD (2560x1440 pixel) resolution and Huawei's home brewed octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor -- using four of ARM's new Cortex-A73 cores and four low-powered A53 cores -- clubbed with Mali G71 MP8 GPU and 6 gigs of RAM, and 128GB of internal memory which is also expandable.
The dual-SIM Honor 8 Pro runs Android Nougat-based Emotion UI 5.1 and supports 4G LTE. There's USB Type-C for charging and data syncing and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for security. The Honor 8 Pro is further backed by a 4,000mAh battery.
In India, the Honor 8 Pro costs Rs.29,999 and is definitely a phone to look out for, if you're looking for an all-round package at under Rs.30,000.
HTC U11
HTC's new U11, has enough gimmicks and fire-power under the hood to stand toe-to-toe with the best in the industry now. And give them quite a run for their money while at it. The U11 is in fact, the best flagship phone that you can buy in the market right now.
The U11 looks great, has a great screen, metes out great performance, comes with great camera credentials and a camera that performs quite well while at it, and outstanding audio credentials that put Apple's iPhone 7 Plus' stereo setup to shame. It is water-resistant and crams in three virtual assistants. The phone, for 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, costs Rs.51,990
The HTC U11 comes with a 5.5-inch 2K Super LCD 5 screen. It is powered by a 2.45GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor clubbed with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB of internal memory which is further expandable via a hybrid micro-SD card slot. The dual-SIM phone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based Sense UI. It further comes with a 16-megapixel front-facing camera and is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0.
The U11 ships with a 12-megapixel rear camera with what HTC calls UltraPixel 3 technology and UltraSpeed Autofocus. It uses a very bright lens at f/1.7 aperture, and the sensor is also a little bigger than the usual, 1/2.55-inch that apparently boosts low-light performance. HTC's UltraPixel sensor is notorious for allowing more light into the lens, technically resulting in brighter photos. The rear camera is further assisted with phase detection autofocus, OIS and dual-LED (dual tone) flash. On the front, it comes with a 16-megapixel camera.
Coolpad Cool Play 6
Priced at Rs.14,999, Coolpad's Cool Play 6 is, without a doubt, the most powerful phone that you can buy if you're on a supremely tight budget. Not only is the Cool Play 6 one of the most powerful phone at its price point, it is also one of the cheapest dual-camera toting devices that you can buy in India right now.
The USP of the phone is said to be its dual-camera setup. It has two cameras on the rear -- dual 13-megapixel with phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash -- wherein one takes monochrome shots while the other takes photos in colour (RGB). The phone's software algorithm then merges both the images into one and creates the final photo. Ideally, the setup should yield better low-light photos, much like it is in the case of the Huawei P9 and the Honor 8. On the front, the Cool Play 6 gives you an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture.
The Cool Play 6, interestingly, is also quite well endowed in terms of other hardware specs. The phone comes with a full-metal unibody design and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p screen and physical capacitive keys that are backlit. There's USB Type-C for charging and data-syncing and 4G LTE with VoLTE-support. The phone, however, doesn't support NFC and OTG. The dual-SIM phone also does not support expandable storage.
The Cool Play 6 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor and runs Android Nougat-based Journey UI. It comes with 6 gigs of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt memory. The phone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery and also supports fast charging.
